Pilates is an amazing way to bring awareness into your body and truly understand how to isolate movements and target specific areas. Pilates and Eldoa to me are the power combo that helps us learn and explore movement.

First we will do a thorough initial assessment usually involving a full scan head to toe, so I can understand the main takeaways specifically for you that we need to work on. Even if it's not an area you feel pain, it may be affecting the problem areas or causing inefficient movement for you day to day. After this I will look at how you move - starting with bigger generalized movements and then getting more specific. At this point I will have a list of goals/priorities that I will plan to focus on in our following sessions.

Created by Guy Voyer - a world renowned Osteopath. ELDOA is an incredible exercise technique that creates length and strength throughout the spine and around different joints in our bodies. It is very effortful as it requires one to create tension above and below the area we want to decompress (create space in). In particular it is very effective for posture, restriction in a joint or area of the spine and hypermobility.
-
Our sessions will be focused! Your nervous system & movement quality will be prioritized. I greatly care about you understanding and learning about your body as that is a key part of rehabbing from an injury. You will leave sessions with updated programs with detailed videos explaining movement concepts/exercises.

We will talk for awhile so I can better understand what has been going on for you and your body! Then we will assess your movement, strength, range of motion etc (this varies depending on what the symptoms / injury is). From there we will get into treatment - there are various options from exercise, manual therapy, acupuncture. I will make a recommendation of clinically what directions are best to go in for treatment. But for example if you prefer to not do acupuncture - all good! we have many other tools/approaches.
-
Definitely ! There is a lot we can do to support you on this. An assessment will be done to see how we can best treat/work on these areas. Many people come to physiotherapy for preventative care or when they feel a pain is starting up but there was no acute/ traumatic injury
