Movement Education - key component in your rehab!!
Movement Education is taking time to understand and be present with your body. To understand tendency’s that your body has (do you always stand with more pressure on your right heel, to your ribs/thoracic spine rest in a rotation always, do certain muscles activate less readily than others). This is all so important because if we are going to recover from an injury, we need to be active part of that recovery. We need to learn about our body & also appreciate that previous experiences/injuries/traumas can increase or decrease our sensory input to certain areas, so the information coming may not be accurate. If we know the information is altered - we can then try to correct with support of a physiotherapist, trainer, chiropractor.
Having a list of exercises that are for: awareness, activation, lengthening, strengthening & proprioception is incredibly important. If you have been dealing with chronic issues that come and go, having a focused and specific list of movements to work with and progress from is essential.
These programs usually have a mix of ELDOA, pilates, strength exercises & self release techniques.
